In a bold move to honor the 45th and 47th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, Representative Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) has announced plans to introduce legislation directing the Bureau of Engraving and Printing to design a $250 bill featuring Trump’s likeness.
Wilson unveiled the initiative on Tuesday, sharing the idea on social media along with a concept image.
“Grateful to announce that I am drafting legislation to direct the Bureau of Engraving and Printing to design a $250 bill featuring Donald J. Trump,” Wilson stated. He further emphasized the economic challenges faced by American families under Biden: “Bidenflation has destroyed the economy, forcing American families to carry more cash. Most valuable bill for most valuable President.”
This proposal comes in response to rising inflation, which has significantly impacted the purchasing power of the U.S. dollar. By introducing a higher denomination bill, Wilson aims to provide a practical solution for Americans needing to carry larger sums of money.
However, current U.S. law prohibits the depiction of living individuals on currency, presenting a legal hurdle for the proposed $250 bill featuring Trump. Additionally, since 1969, the highest denomination of U.S. banknotes in circulation has been the $100 bill.
The initiative has sparked a range of reactions. Supporters see it as a fitting tribute to Trump’s leadership in both of his presidencies, as he works to restore America’s strength. Critics, however, question the necessity and timing of introducing new currency denominations, especially given the legal constraints and potential costs associated with redesigning and producing new bills.
Well, personally, I think it’s badass.
