Remembering the Unacknowledged
Biden’s State of the Union Oversight

In the wake of the tragic death of 22-year-old University of Georgia nursing student Laken Riley, our nation mourns collectively. Yet, amidst this sorrow, it’s imperative to pause and reflect on the names of 13 other individuals whose absence in Biden’s State of the Union address should not go unnoticed.

For three consecutive years, President Biden has chosen to overlook the sacrifice of the 13 Marines who lost their lives in the Abbey Gate Kabul terrorist bombing. Despite numerous opportunities, he has failed to acknowledge the profound impact of their deaths on their families and communities.

The lack of accountability within the Biden Administration regarding the deaths of these courageous Marines is glaring. Even during their memorial service, where Biden infamously glanced at his watch, the mother of Marine Kareem Nikoui rightfully confronted Biden, holding him responsible with the poignant words, “my son’s blood is on your hands.” She speaks a truth that cannot be ignored—the withdrawal from Afghanistan was a catastrophic failure, witnessed by the world as chaos ensued in August 2021.

President Biden’s refusal to acknowledge his administration’s shortcomings extends beyond Afghanistan. He neglects to address pressing issues such as inflation, the housing crisis, and border security, instead opting to deflect blame onto his predecessor, criticize political opponents, and advocate for increased international involvement, notably in Ukraine.

In a moment of unexpected candor, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene demanded Biden to recognize Laken Riley, only to witness him mispronounce the name and accidentally label her killer as an illegal immigrant (rather than the left’s favored term, undocumented,) during a live broadcast.

However, amidst the political theater, one man stood as the true hero of the evening—Steven Nikoui, father of Kareem Nikoui. With unwavering determination, he echoed his son’s name, and “Abbey Gate! Second Battalion! First Marines!” His shouts piercing through the veneer of complacency that shrouded the chamber. Ironically, right before Biden makes the claim that “America is safer today than before I took office.” However, Steven’s impassioned plea for recognition was met not with empathy but with handcuffs, as he was swiftly escorted and arrested for daring to disrupt Biden’s speech.

In a speech marked by hollow promises and political posturing, the arrest of Nikoui serves as a poignant reminder of the state of our union—a nation where the cries of grieving parents are silenced, and accountability is shunned in favor of optics.

As we reflect on these events, it’s essential to honor the memory of those who have fallen and hold our leaders accountable for their actions. Our collective voice must demand transparency, accountability, and justice for those who have sacrificed everything in service to our country.
