Bird Flu Scare Tactic: Face the Nation Interview calls for Biden to Emergency Authorize Millions of Vaccines
On “Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan” aired on December 29, 2024, Dr. Leana Wen, a former Baltimore health commissioner, expressed concerns about the bird flu situation. She emphasized that the U.S. should have learned from the COVID-19 experience regarding testing and vaccine authorization. Dr. Wen advocated for the immediate availability of rapid tests for farm workers and their families to monitor the spread of the virus without relying solely on public or CDC labs for confirmation. She also pushed for the FDA to authorize the use of the existing H5N1 bird flu vaccine, highlighting the need for proactive measures to prevent another potential “health crisis.”
However many Americans are rightfully wary of being subjected to another round of mandates or recommendations from these agencies, especially after controversies and inconsistencies in previous public health directives.
There will hopefully be a strong resistance to what could be seen as a repeat of the COVID-19 vaccine rollout, with people expressing that they won’t easily trust or comply with new health mandates from these agencies.
I certainly won’t be rushing to receive a vaccine anytime soon. Our government has ruined trust in vaccines for years to come. I am hoping our new HHS Director can generate trust in American healthcare once more.
