Respecting the Biological Basis of Womanhood
No Uterus. No Period. Period.

Let’s keep this straightforward for everyone: No uterus, no period. Period.

This statement shouldn’t be controversial; it’s basic biology. If you lack a uterus, you don’t experience a period. Therefore, for a trans man to claim they’re enduring period cramps is deeply insulting to women. Womanhood is a journey of growth and adaptation to the ever-changing female body. Your first period can be a daunting experience, never knowing when it might arrive and always needing to be prepared. Some women face irregular cycles, unsure of when their period will strike. Whether light or heavy, periods present challenges.

Birth control alters menstrual cycles and mood, often with unpleasant side effects when hormone levels aren’t right. It takes years of trial and error to find the right contraceptive. Discontinuing birth control means relearning the female body’s rhythms. Monitoring cycles and understanding bodily changes become routine.

Periods come with a host of side effects: bleeding, hormonal fluctuations, migraines, shedding of the uterine lining, spotting, anemia, and the risk of toxic shock syndrome. Women manage these challenges while navigating daily life—working, driving, eating, participating in society—without complaint. We endure uncomfortable pap smears annually, awaiting results with anxiety.

Moreover, menstruation is integral to reproduction. Endometriosis and polycystic ovary syndrome can hinder fertility, leading to years of fertility treatments. Some women require hysterectomies due to conditions like cystic fibroids, navigating new hormonal terrain afterward.

Women endure these struggles—not men. Therefore, suggesting that trans women experience period cramps diminishes and invalidates the unique challenges faced by biological women. It reduces our experiences to a mere imitation, akin to a little boy’s tea party, filled with costumes and make believe.

Trans women shouldn’t celebrate experiencing periods or share videos of their “cramps.” Their discomfort is stemming from hormonal treatments, not natural menstrual cycles. Such symptoms result from injecting estrogen into a male body, not from their nonexistent uterine lining shedding. This isn’t and never will be a true period.

Labeling this as menstruation contradicts the left’s stance against appropriation. Trans rights activists haven’t sought permission to enter women’s spaces, engage in women’s sports, or identify as women without the prefix “trans.” Nor have they sought approval to claim the experience of menstruation. This is appropriation, plain and simple.

For years, I’ve embraced tolerance and acceptance. However, encroachment on women’s rights and safe spaces demands a firm stance. Trans individuals are not oppressed; they are the oppressors. I’ll continue advocating for women, unapologetically defending our rights and experiences. That’s true feminism.

Menstruation doesn’t change anything about your gender, it’s just a thing that some bodies do.
