cis·gen·der

/sisˈjendər/

adjective

adjective: cisgender; adjective: cis-gender; adjective: cisgendered; adjective: cis-gendered

denoting or relating to a person whose gender identity corresponds with the sex registered for them at birth; not transgender.

Many claim that “cis” is not a slur. The term “cisgender” originated in 1994, a Latin prefix to mean “on this side.”

Now Merriam Webster states:

Are ‘cisgender,’ ‘cisgendered,’ and ‘cis’ slurs?

A slur is a word or phrase that is intended to insult or disparage someone. A term that is neutral can become a slur over time, but our current evidence shows that cisgender and its variants are overwhelmingly used neutrally.

They assert that a neutral term can deteriorate into a slur over time.

We’ve undoubtedly reached that critical juncture. Society is presently mired in deep political and social divisions. The TQ+ community relentlessly seeks greater recognition, surpassing what was previously acknowledged. They aim to assert the rightful place of cisgender individuals in society.

Lately, there’s been a surge in videos depicting confrontations within the trans community, berating individuals for misgendering them. Admittedly, using appearance to discern the “correct” pronouns to use has become exceedingly challenging. The consequences of a slip can result in intense reactions.

Have you come across the insistence that “trans women are women“? Many trans women reject having their identity prefaced with “trans.” They don’t want to be called a trans woman. They just want to be a woman.

So, why shouldn’t we express discontent about the term “cis” preceding “women”? It’s essentially the same argument. Women simply desire to be recognized as women; why should they now be compelled to identify with the gender assigned at birth? It’s absurd. Women possess unique biological characteristics—uterus, menstrual cycles, childbirth, breastfeeding, and XX chromosomes—that define womanhood. Just women. No “cis” required.

The struggles that these women endure only fortify their resilience. They shouldn’t be compelled to adopt the label “cis,” in order to differentiate themselves from the trans community.  A transgender individual undergoes medical interventions and alterations to align with a female appearance. They’re not biologically female; they’re transgender women.

There’s a concerning trend emerging, claiming that transgender women surpass cisgender women. They purport to be more desirable, possessing superior physical attributes, fashion sense, even claiming superiority in nurturing infants. They really believe that hormone created “chest milk” is more nutritious than naturally created female breastmilk. And though they claim trans women are superior, ironically, many harbor jealousy towards cisgender women.

Therefore how can the trans community diminish the stature of women? By labeling them “cis,” thereby segregating their womanhood. The TQ+ community wants to use the “cis” label on real women so they can forget that they will forever be stuck with the label, trans.

Women didn’t choose this plight. They haven’t undergone surgeries and hormonal treatments to transition to men. They’ve confronted societal norms and fought tirelessly for their place in the world, in a society where women’s rights once held significance, now dwindle to nothingness. They’re reduced not just below men but beneath trans women, who are essentially biologically male.

With the recent alterations in Title IX by the Biden Administration, the erasure of women from history continues unabated. Trans ideology tramples on women’s rights, purportedly for inclusivity, but at the cost of female exclusion.

Women no longer have exclusive spaces—bathrooms, locker rooms, sports teams, gynecologists, bars—all have been infiltrated, leaving no sanctuary. Any resistance is labeled as phobic.

Trans ideology demands integration into every facet of a woman’s life, yet seeks to differentiate by labeling cis women.

Trans women reject the term “transwomen” (one word v trans woman) as it undermines their identity as “real” women. They don’t want to be reminded of the fact that they have been manufactured. But women don’t need to be reminded that they are the same gender identity that that they were born as. Women just exist AS women.

If “transwoman” is deemed a slur, then so is “cis.”
