I was disheartened to see what happened on X over the last day and a half. As a Republican, I am doing everything I can to ensure that I am standing on the right side of the fence while also being kind. It’s tough when there are so many people on the Internet who want to say nasty things to you and hurl insults simply because they don’t agree with your politics.
But what really struck me yesterday was the far-right Christian conservatives bashing Melania Trump for hosting an LGBT night at Mar-a-Lago.
Before we continue, let me make a few statements about my beliefs so people don’t make assumptions:
- I believe that as Republicans, we need to stick together as we approach the November vote so that we can all vote for Trump.
- Protecting democracy and our nation should be our number one priority. If we don’t rally together and save America, then our social issues are the least of our concerns. This is our one shot, now more than ever before, to take back our country and make it successful again.
- I believe that not every Republican needs to agree with one another on every issue for us to still vote red come November.
- I do not believe in the transitioning of children. Children should not be given puberty blockers or undergo irreversible surgeries. I do not support pornographic books in schools, and I believe these topics should not be part of our educational curriculum.
- I believe parents should be the primary point of contact for their child’s education, and schools should not teach children about topics and ideologies behind their parents’ backs.
Now, onto why we are really here. I saw a lot of conservatives bashing gay conservatives, and I was very agitated to see this. We need to look at the reality of what is happening in our country. We cannot afford another four years of Biden as our country’s president. We cannot allow the transitioning of children to continue. And, believe it or not, gay conservatives are fighting harder for the rights of our children than most. We have Gays against Groomers advocating against gender ideology, protesting at schools, and establishing chapters across the country to combat the transitioning of children. And they do this because it is the right thing to do.
If you want to see an advocate for children who works daily to protect them, look no further than David of America. He consistently makes videos on TikTok, targeting the younger crowd, providing information on why transitioning kids is harmful and irreversible. In fact, Washington State Democrats recently labeled him a right-wing extremist simply for standing up for our cause.
There are many more people in the gay community advocating for Republican values. These are some of the many individuals I follow on X:
Scott Presler, Gays Against Groomers, David of America (instagram), Log Cabin Republicans, Becky Weiss (Instagram) ConservativeAnt, LadyMagaUSA, David Leatherwood, The Gay Republican, Mario Presents Official, Rightly Gay, Deplorable Phag, HomoConNYC, LGB, LGB Group, Gay Penguins 1, The Gay Warrior.
We need to thank these people, not denounce them.
As for gay conservatives, look at Scott Presler. He singlehandedly does more for voter registration than any other Republican I know. He has dedicated his life to protecting democracy and ensuring a November win for us in swing states. He works every day not only to register people to vote but also to teach others how to do so. His efforts will cause ripples that we should feel blessed to have on our side. He is currently working to register the Amish in Pennsylvania and heading to Erie with Trump signs and eclipse glasses. If there is a major event happening, Scott Presler is there to register people to vote.
As much as some might want to make the Republican Party about religion, we need to focus on politics. The America these LGB Republicans are fighting for is the same America that guarantees freedom of religion. We need to put aside our differences and stand together. We all share the same common goal, and therefore we need to treat each other with kindness and respect. We are all fighting to protect a free America. We don’t just want to Make America Great Again; we want to make it a democracy again. And to accomplish this, we need all hands on deck. Republicans shouldn’t be a party that divides; we need to be a party that unites.
The main reason I decided to finally start sharing my beliefs was to shift the stereotype of what a Republican is. I was tired of us being called white supremacist Nazis, homophobes, racists, stupid, ignorant, cultists who can’t read. I wanted to show that we are well-educated, kind, and accepting. We can listen to people’s opinions without tearing them down. So, if hard-right conservative Christians can’t accept a night for REPUBLICAN LGBT, then I will stand for them. I will tell them that it is a night well-deserved and that Trump isn’t just a President for devout Christians; he is a President for all Americans. Enjoy your night, keep standing up for what you believe in, keep faith in the Republican party, know that there are Republican allies who will defend you, let’s stand together in November, and let’s cheers to being Americans. Because we are truly blessed to be so.
